Wellborn Driveway & Pavers: The Santa Clarita Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Wellborn-compatible driveway and paver components throughout Santa Clarita, with most repairs priced between $800 and $2,500 depending on the extent of the surface damage and the square footage involved. Homeowners typically discover a problem the same way: a paver shifts underfoot near the garage apron, a section of the driveway settles after winter rains, or the edge restraint gives way along the lawn line. You’ll usually notice the failure long before it becomes a full driveway replacement.

Wellborn is known for cabinetry, but many Santa Clarita homes with Wellborn kitchen and bath packages also have driveway pavers installed as part of the original build. Those pavers come from the same supply chain we work with, and we keep the common sizes on hand. If the paver is cracked, faded, or sinking, we can match it. If the base underneath has failed, no paver swap will fix the problem for long. That’s the first thing we check on every call.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn doesn’t manufacture pavers directly. The Wellborn name on your paperwork refers to the cabinetry line, not the driveway material. So when we say “Wellborn driveway & pavers,” we’re talking about the paver systems installed alongside Wellborn kitchens in Santa Clarita’s newer subdivisions, particularly in Valencia, Saugus, and parts of Canyon Country. Those installs almost always use one of three paver profiles: a 6×9 rectangular paver, a 6×6 square, or a tumbled cobble in a 4×8 format.
The thickness matters more than the brand stamp. Most Santa Clarita paver driveways are 60mm pavers, which handles passenger vehicles but not heavy trucks or RVs. Some newer builds in the hills around Newhall use 80mm pavers, which hold up better to the clay-heavy soil movement we get after a wet winter. Pull one paver and measure the thickness before you order anything. If you can’t find a marking, bring it to our shop off Soledad Canyon and we’ll match it. Aftermarket pavers from the same manufacturer plants are identical to OEM in every way that matters: color blend, compressive strength, and freeze-thaw rating. We stock both OEM and quality aftermarket equivalents.

Signs Your Wellborn Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Settling or depressions near the garage apron. This usually means the base layer has washed out or was never compacted properly. In Santa Clarita’s clay soil, water migration under the pavers is the number one cause of localized sinking. You’ll see it as a slight dip where the car tires sit overnight.
- Efflorescence or white chalky residue across the surface. This is mineral salts wicking through the paver and it’s common after Santa Clarita’s wet winters. It’s not structural, but it signals water is moving through the paver rather than draining around it. Left alone, it can lead to spalling (surface flaking).
- Edge pavers shifting or popping loose along the lawn or planter beds. The edge restraint has failed. Without that plastic or aluminum edging holding the border, the whole field can start to creep outward. You’ll see a widening gap between the pavers and the concrete curb.
- Sand loss between joints after rain. Polymeric sand breaks down over time, especially in high-sun exposure areas like Stevenson Ranch and parts of Castaic. When the sand washes out, pavers start to rock underfoot. Rocking pavers crack faster than stable ones.
- Cracks running across multiple pavers in a straight line. That’s not a paver problem, that’s a base problem. Most often we find a tree root from a nearby oak or a broken irrigation line underneath. Root movement in Santa Clarita’s dry summers can shift a paver field enough to crack the surface within a single season.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Wellborn-style paver driveway repair in Santa Clarita, you’re looking at $800 to $2,500 for a typical repair that includes removing the affected section, re-compacting the base, and reinstalling matched pavers. Full paver driveway installation runs $7,000 to $18,000, and driveway replacement (demo, base work, new pavers) starts around $5,000 and goes up to $14,000 depending on square footage and access. If it’s just sealing, budget $250 to $700.
Every price we give is written before work starts, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. No change orders, no surprises. The quote includes parts, labor, base repair if needed, edge restraint, and cleanup. We run a 365-Day Done Right Promise on every paver repair: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Luca Romano walks every job before we commit to a number, because a paver that looks fine from the street can be sitting on a failed base that’ll need full excavation.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: pull a loose paver and measure the thickness, look for exposed base material under the edge, and hose down the surface to see if water drains or pools. If you’re just re-sanding joints or replacing one or two cracked pavers, that’s within reach for a capable homeowner with a rubber mallet and a bag of polymeric sand.
Where DIY goes wrong is the base. If the pavers are sinking, cracking in lines, or the whole field is shifting, you’re not going to fix that with new sand. The base has to come out, the soil has to be re-compacted (or amended for Santa Clarita’s clay), and the pavers reinstalled to grade. We’ve fixed more than a few weekend excavation attempts that turned a $900 repair into a full driveway replacement. If you’re unsure, call (661) 592-1977 and we’ll give you a straight answer over the phone before any visit is scheduled.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Santa Clarita lasts 25 to 40 years, with the pavers themselves often outlasting the base underneath. The sun here is hard on color, so expect some fading by year 10, but structural failure before year 15 almost always traces back to a bad base, poor drainage, or the clay soil shifting. Call (661) 592-1977 if your pavers are showing age and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s cosmetic or structural.
Yes, in most cases a settled paver driveway can be repaired section by section. We remove the affected pavers, excavate and re-compact the base, add fresh bedding sand, and reinstall the original pavers. The cost runs $800 to $2,500 for a typical repair in Santa Clarita. The exception is when the base failure extends across the whole field, at which point a full replacement is the honest call. We’ll show you photos of what’s underneath before any work is approved.
A standard paver repair in Santa Clarita takes 1 to 2 days from excavation to final compaction, assuming the weather cooperates. Larger sections or full driveway replacements run 3 to 5 days. We give you a written timeline before we start and send photo updates as the work progresses, so you see exactly what’s happening under the surface. Call (661) 592-1977 to schedule a free estimate.
We stock the common 6×9, 6×6, and 4×8 paver profiles on the truck and in our Santa Clarita shop, along with matching edge restraints and polymeric sand. If your paver is an unusual size or color blend, we can typically source a match within a few days through the same manufacturer supply lines used across Southern California. Bring in a sample and we’ll match it. Estimates are free, and you’ll have a written price before any work begins.
