Master Halco Construction in Northridge, CA | Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita

We provide independent Master Halco service across Northridge as a Northridge General Contractor, and the one thing that separates our work here is knowing how the 1950s-70s housing stock and expansive clay soils punish fence and structural post systems. If you own a Master Halco PostMaster, Oz-Fence, or aluminum ornamental fence in Northridge, we can diagnose and repair it correctly the first time, often without a full replacement. Call (661) 592-1977 for a free estimate from a crew that has rebuilt Northridge homes and fences for over a decade.

Why Northridge Residents Choose Us for Master Halco Service

A remodeled laundry and mudroom with a bench, cubbies and painted cabinets

We know Master Halco products because we work with them constantly, not occasionally. PostMaster steel post systems, Oz-Fence pre-assembled wood panels, Classic aluminum ornamental fencing, and round rail post assemblies all behave differently in Northridge’s hot summers and wet winters, and we have seen every failure mode this climate produces. Luca Romano, owner of Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita, runs crews that match the original Master Halco line before suggesting any repair, so your fence repair blends in rather than looking patched. Our experience across Northridge means we arrive already knowing what to look for, from corroded post bases at concrete collars to warped south-facing pickets. That local familiarity shortens the diagnosis time and keeps the repair cost down.

We are an independent Master Halco service provider, not a manufacturer-owned operation or an authorized dealer. That independence matters because it means our only incentive is the correct fix for your fence, not moving product. We use genuine PostMaster brackets, Oz-Fence pickets, and matching aluminum profiles whenever a repair is viable. When a run is beyond economical repair, we will tell you that plainly and quote a new Master Halco system rather than patching it with mismatched aftermarket parts.

Common Master Halco Construction Problems We Solve in Northridge

  • PostMaster steel posts corroding at the concrete collar. Northridge irrigation overspray and clay soil moisture sit trapped against the galvanized coating at the base, and after years of that, the steel rusts through just above the concrete. We set new posts with zinc-rich touch-up and mount them above the clay heave line so water does not pool at the collar again.
  • Oz-Fence pickets warping and splitting on south-facing runs. The original sealant on pre-assembled wood panels breaks down under Valley sun, and the dry summer heat pulls moisture out of the pickets unevenly. South-facing fence lines in Northridge show this first. We replace warped pickets with matching Oz-Fence profiles and reseal the run so the repair disappears.
  • Aluminum ornamental gate hinges sagging and throwing the gate out of square. Expansive clay soils swell during wet winters and twist fence posts slightly, which pulls gate hinges out of alignment. A gate that dragged after last year’s rains is usually a post heave problem, not a hinge problem. We reset the post or adjust the hinge geometry before it damages the gate frame.
  • Round rail ends cracking at the post hole. Older 1960s fences in Northridge were often set above the clay active zone, and heavy rain seasons cause heave cycles that crack rail ends right where they enter the post. We reset posts below the active zone and repair the rail ends cleanly.
  • Fence lines rippling on concrete mow strips poured after the 1994 earthquake. In neighborhoods south of CSUN, many PostMaster fences sit on mow strips with steel post bases only 6 inches into the clay below. After a wet winter, the clay swells and the strip heaves, leaving a signature ripple in the fence line. We spot that from the curb and fix it by extending post footings into stable soil.

Master Halco Service in Northridge: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

Off Encino Avenue just south of CSUN, we pulled a section of PostMaster fence where the steel posts had corroded through at the concrete collar. The homeowner’s sprinkler overspray had been soaking the base for twenty years, and the clay soil held that moisture against the galvanized coating until the steel failed. We set new posts with zinc-rich touch-up and a reinforced mount above the clay heave line, then reused the original Oz-Fence pickets. The line is straight again, even after the last two wet winters.

That job is not an outlier in Northridge. The 1994 earthquake reshaped this area’s fencing more than most people realize. Many homes got new concrete mow strips and fence systems during the rebuild, but the post footings were often shallow, sitting just inches into the expansive clay that defines the Valley floor. When the clay swells after heavy rain, it heaves those mow strips and twists the posts, which is why so many Northridge fences develop ripples and crooked lines years after installation. A fence that looked perfect in October can be visibly heaving by March. The fix is not always a new fence. Often we can reset the posts deeper, below the active clay zone, and reuse the existing Master Halco panels and pickets.

Northridge’s hot, dry summers also break down wood and aluminum finishes faster than coastal areas. South-facing Oz-Fence panels lose their sealant first, and the pickets warp as the summer heat cycles through months of near-zero humidity. Aluminum ornamental fence holds up better structurally but the gate posts still take a beating from the soil movement. Knowing what Northridge conditions do to Master Halco systems means we can quote accurately and repair efficiently, without replacing parts that still have years of life.

Master Halco Models & Products We Service in Northridge

We service the full Master Halco residential line across Northridge: PostMaster wood fence systems, Oz-Fence pre-assembled wood panels, Classic aluminum ornamental fence, and round rail and post assemblies. Our parts approach is to match the original line exactly when repairing, using genuine PostMaster brackets and Oz-Fence pickets so the repair blends invisibly. We stock the common bracket profiles and picket sizes locally for fast Northridge turnaround. For aluminum ornamental work, we match the exact profile rather than forcing a near-miss aftermarket piece. When a repair does not make financial sense, we tell you and quote a new Master Halco system instead.
