Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU: The Santa Clarita Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in Santa Clarita and want Caesarstone surfaces in it, the installed cost typically runs $45,000 to $130,000 for the addition itself, with Caesarstone countertops adding roughly $2,000 to $6,500 per surface depending on the space. We stock and install full Caesarstone lines for additions and ADUs across Santa Clarita, and Luca Romano’s crew handles everything from slab to sink cutout to sealed edges in one pass. Most homeowners call us when they’ve got a partial plan already: cabinets ordered, Caesarstone picked out, and then they realize the countertop template needs to happen before plumbing final, not after.

Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Caesarstone. But we work with their slabs every week, so we know the quirks: how a 2cm slab behaves on a 10-foot island versus a 3cm slab, which edge profiles stand up to Santa Clarita’s dry heat without hairline cracking, and why a seam placed wrong on an L-shaped ADU counter will fail within two summers.
Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone runs multiple series lines, and not every slab belongs in a high-use ADU kitchen or a bathroom addition that sees Santa Clarita’s temperature swings. The Classic and Supernatural series (think 5141 Frosty Carrina, 5100 Vanilla Noir, 6131 Calacatta Nuvo) are the workhorse picks for ADU countertops: dense, non-porous, and stable across the 30-degree overnight dips we get in Valencia and Canyon Country in winter. The Outdoor series is rated for full sun exposure, which matters if your ADU has an exterior kitchen or a pass-through bar on the patio.
Identification gotcha: Caesarstone’s model number is printed on the slab’s protective film and on the bar code sticker on the side, not on the finished surface. If you’re matching an existing countertop in your main house to a new ADU slab, photograph that sticker before the installer peels it. Once it’s off, matching requires a physical sample against a current slab lot, and lot-to-lot color drift is real. We keep current Caesarstone sample chips on the truck for exactly this reason.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Caesarstone doesn’t make “parts” the way an appliance brand does, but the adjacent components do have OEM-versus-generic decisions. Sink cutouts, for example: a CNC-cut undermount opening from a Caesarstone-certified fabricator gives you clean inside corners and proper sink weight support. A generic shop routing it by hand risks a stress crack radiating from the corner within the first year. We cut on a water-fed CNC and then hand-polish the edges, which is why our Caesarstone work in Santa Clarita comes with a written warranty.

Signs Your Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Cracked slab around the sink or cooktop cutout. This is the most common failure we see. The cause is almost always a cutout corner that was routed too sharp, or a slab that wasn’t supported on both sides of the opening. In an ADU, add in settling: if the cabinet base shifts even 1/8 inch on a Santa Clarita hillside lot, the slab has nowhere to go but crack.
- Seam separation at the corner joint. Caesarstone seams are glued with a color-matched polyester adhesive. When the seam opens, the cause is either movement underneath (again, settling or a cabinet frame that wasn’t shimmed dead level) or a slab that was cut a hair short. A visible seam line that catches your fingernail means moisture is getting in, and that’s how you end up with a dark stain under the seam.
- White chalky residue or etching on the surface. Caesarstone is quartz, not marble, so it won’t etch from lemon juice. If you’re seeing dull white patches, the cause is usually a cheap polishing compound from the original install, or someone used an abrasive cleaner that broke the surface sheen. Once the gloss is gone, the slab grabs stains it would normally shed.
- Edge chipping along the profile. Caesarstone’s 3cm slabs hold an eased or pencil edge well. When you see ragged chips along the rim, the common causes are a dull router bit during fabrication, or the slab was cut too thin at the edge, usually under 1/2 inch. A properly fabricated edge doesn’t chip from normal pot contact.
- Staining that won’t lift, especially around the faucet deck. Quartz is non-porous, but the area around a faucet base where the drill hole wasn’t sealed will wick water and minerals. Over time in Santa Clarita’s hard water, that wicking leaves a ring of white scale that etches into the surface and won’t scrub off.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Caesarstone surface replacement within a Santa Clarita home addition or ADU, expect to pay:
- ADU kitchen countertop (full run, 25 – 40 square feet): $4,000 – $6,500 installed
- Bathroom vanity top (ADU or addition bathroom): $1,200 – $2,800 installed
- Island slab (single, waterfall edge): $3,000 – $6,500 installed
- Outdoor ADU bar top or pass-through: $2,500 – $5,500 installed
The range comes down to three things: square footage, which Caesarstone series you pick (Classic runs less than Supernatural; Outdoor runs more), and cutout count. Every sink and cooktop cutout adds fabrication time and waste. Our written price includes template, fabrication, delivery, installation, sink cutout, faucet holes, edge profile, and disposal of the old top. The number on the proposal is the number on the invoice. Every Caesarstone surface we install in Santa Clarita carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the seam opens or the edge fails within a year, we come back and fix it, in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Look under the countertop with a flashlight: is there a support bracket under the sink cutout? Is the slab sitting on shims, or is there visible air gap between the cabinet top and the stone? If you have a 4-foot level handy, drop it across the surface and check for low spots. These are useful diagnostics to share with us before we quote.
What you shouldn’t DIY: moving a Caesarstone slab. A 3cm slab weighs about 17 pounds per square foot, so a typical 30-square-foot ADU kitchen run is 500 pounds. Slabs crack under their own weight if lifted flat. They need to be carried on edge with the cutouts taped, and even veteran crews lose a slab when someone grabs the wrong side. If your existing top has a crack that’s growing, stop using that section of counter, and call us at (661) 592-1977. We’ll template, fabricate, and install the replacement without you touching a single slab.
FAQs

A properly fabricated and installed Caesarstone surface should last 20-plus years in Santa Clarita. The quartz material itself doesn’t degrade meaningfully in our climate, even with the summer heat. What kills slabs early is bad fabrication: sharp cutout corners, undersupported spans, or seams glued onto uneven cabinet tops. Get those right and the surface outlasts the cabinets under it.
Sometimes. A hairline crack away from a cutout can be filled with a color-matched polyester adhesive, and the result is often nearly invisible. But a crack running from a sink corner or across a seam is structural, and filling it buys you a year, not a fix. We’ll tell you straight which one you have before we quote anything.
From template to finished install, plan on one to two weeks. Templating happens first (about an hour on-site), fabrication runs three to five business days, and installation takes half a day. If we’re pulling the old top on day one, the ADU is without that work surface for about one week.
We don’t warehouse slabs, but we have direct purchasing access to current Caesarstone lots through our supplier. You pick the color from samples we bring to the site, we order the slab, and it arrives cut to your template. If you want to see full slabs in person, we’ll point you to the local slab yard we use in the Santa Clarita area and meet you there.
If your Caesarstone surface in a Santa Clarita home addition or ADU has a problem, or you’re planning a new one and want the price in writing before any work starts, call Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita at (661) 592-1977. We’ll schedule your free estimate, show up at the time we give you, and put the number on paper. The work tells the story. We just show up and do it right.
