Techo-Bloc Fence Installation: The Santa Clarita Owner’s Guide
We install Techo-Bloc fence systems throughout Santa Clarita, with most projects landing between $3,500 and $9,000 for a typical residential run. The work is usually completed in two to four days, depending on footage and access.

Most homeowners call us after a section starts leaning, a post shifts, or a panel cracks. Techo-Bloc fencing is built to hold up in our high-desert sun and Santa Clarita’s freeze-thaw cycles, but base prep and post anchoring are where installations fail, usually three to seven years after the original contractor packed up. The panels themselves rarely fail first. It’s almost always the footing or the post.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc makes modular fence systems under several product lines, the most common ones we see in Santa Clarita are the Blu 60, Raffinato, and Trail Unit series. Each uses a proprietary post-and-panel locking system where the panel slides into a channel in the post, no visible hardware. That’s the whole point of the Techo-Bloc look, clean lines, no brackets.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha homeowners miss: panels from one Techo-Bloc series will not lock into posts from another series or generation. The channel dimensions differ by a few millimeters, and Techo-Bloc has revised the tongue-and-groove profile on several lines over the years. If you’re matching a replacement panel to existing posts, we need the original model name or a photo of the top cap. The part number is stamped on the underside of most caps. No cap, no visible marking? We can still ID it by measuring the post channel width and panel thickness, which we do on every call before ordering anything.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for Techo-Bloc specifically, we recommend OEM panels and posts. Aftermarket concrete panels rarely match the aggregate blend or color batch. Techo-Bloc runs dye lots, and a close-enough gray from a generic supplier stands out against sun-faded original panels in direct Santa Clarita sunlight. The upcharge for OEM is usually 10 to 18 percent, and it’s worth it on a visible fence line.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning section with an intact panel. The panel didn’t fail. The post footing has settled or washed out, usually because the original base was poured too shallow. In Santa Clarita’s silty clay, a 24-inch footing that works elsewhere can heave and shift. We go below the local frost line and compact properly.
- Hairline crack running vertically through a post. This is freeze-thaw damage. Water gets into micro-porosity in the concrete post, expands overnight in a cold snap, and cracks from the inside. Once a post cracks vertically, it won’t hold the panel lock tension and needs replacement.
- Panel rocking or rattling in the channel. The locking insert or shim inside the post channel has disintegrated. Techo-Bloc uses a polymer locking wedge that degrades over time, especially on south-facing walls in Santa Clarita’s summer UV index. A loose panel puts weight on the panel below it, which then cracks.
- Gap opening between the bottom panel and the ground. Soil settlement at the base. Not a panel problem, a base prep problem. We re-level the course, add compacted base material, and reset the panel. Skip this fix and the fence slowly starts to sag in the middle.
- White chalky residue on panel faces. Efflorescence. Water is moving through the concrete and depositing salts on the surface. It’s cosmetic on its own, but it tells us water is getting behind the panel and into the post, which is the beginning of the freeze-crack failure above.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A Techo-Bloc fence installation or replacement in Santa Clarita typically runs $3,500 to $9,000. Here’s what drives the spread.
- Linear footage is the biggest variable. A 30-foot run with a gate sits at the bottom of the range. A 100-plus-foot run wrapping a corner hits the top.
- Post replacement versus panel replacement. Replacing only cracked panels is cheaper. Replacing posts means digging out the old footing, which is labor-heavy, especially if the original contractor poured a deep concrete ball.
- Access and grade. Sloped lots in areas like Valencia and the hills around Newhall mean stepped courses and more cutting time.
- Disposal of the old fence. We haul it. That’s included in our written price, not a surprise line item.
Every quote is a written, line-item price before work starts. You know what the panels cost, what the posts cost, what labor costs, and what disposal costs. The price you approve is the price on the invoice. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence isn’t done right, we make it right, in writing, for a full year after we close the job.

DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner who’s comfortable with concrete and a level can DIY an isolated panel swap on a straight, flat run. Pop the cap, lift the panel out of the channel, drop the new one in. The panel itself isn’t the hard part.
The hard part is everything under the panel. A Techo-Bloc fence is only as straight and stable as the base it sits on. If the post has shifted or the footing cracked, digging out and re-pouring post foundations means hitting the right depth for Santa Clarita soil, hauling out the old concrete, and setting a post that’s dead plumb in both directions. A post that’s half a degree off makes every panel above it bind, and you’ll see that wave from the street for years. This isn’t high-tension dangerous like a garage spring, but a 90-pound concrete post falling on a foot is a real risk during the reset.
If you want the panel matched, the post plumb, and the base done once, call (661) 592-1977. We’ll come out, measure, ID the Techo-Bloc series, and hand you a written price before anything gets dug.
FAQs

A properly installed Techo-Bloc fence in Santa Clarita should last 25 to 35 years before the posts need resetting or the base needs re-compaction, with panels typically outlasting posts. UV fades the surface color slightly over the first decade, but structural failure almost always comes from footing or freeze-thaw issues, not panel degradation. Call (661) 592-1977 if your fence is showing a lean or a vertical post crack.
Hairline surface cracks can sometimes be sealed with a concrete repair product matched to the aggregate, but for a structural crack that runs through the panel or compromises the lock channel, replacement is the only fix that holds. Patching the channel area never holds panel tension, and the panel will fail again within a season. We’ll tell you honestly which one you’re looking at during the estimate.
Most Santa Clarita Techo-Bloc fence installations finish in two to four days. Panel-only swaps on an existing sound frame can be same-day. Full post replacement with new footings takes longer because the concrete base needs to cure before panels go in, and we don’t rush that step.
We keep the common polymer locking wedges, caps, and shims for the Blu 60 and Raffinato lines on the truck for repair calls. Panels and posts are special-ordered per series and color batch once we confirm which Techo-Bloc model you have. Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita is an independent installer and not affiliated with Techo-Bloc, but we work with their product lines directly.
