Unilock Kitchen Remodeling: The Santa Clarita Owner’s Guide
A full Unilock kitchen remodel in Santa Clarita runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on how much of the existing kitchen you’re replacing and which Unilock line you’re matching. We stock Unilock-compatible pavers, wall units, and edge restraints on our trucks, so most tear-out and reset work happens within one or two visits. The way most Santa Clarita owners find us is simple: they pull up a failing paver or notice their kitchen’s Unilock wall cap has shifted, and the original installer either won’t call back or wants a full tear-out price. That’s where we come in.

Unilock makes a durable product, but the Santa Clarita Valley’s clay-heavy soil moves. Our freeze-thaw cycles are mild compared to the Midwest, but the summer heat and irrigation runoff do their own work. We see paver settling, edge restraint failure, and joint sand washout more than anything else. Sometimes it’s a full kitchen remodel, sometimes it’s a partial reset of a failed section. Either way, the price is in writing before we start.
Which Unilock Models This Applies To

This guide covers Unilock’s interlocking concrete paver lines most commonly used for outdoor kitchens, countertops, and surrounding hardscape in Santa Clarita: Brussels Block, Town Hall, Courtstone, Richcliff, and the EnduraColor series (Artline, Beacon Hill, and Umbriano). If your kitchen island face or bar top is built from Unilock wall units, you’re looking at either the Estate Wall or Pisa II lines. Each has different joint widths and locking characteristics, which matters if you’re replacing a section rather than starting fresh.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: Unilock updated its EnduraColor manufacturing process around 2018. If you have an older Brussels Block or Courtstone install, the color batch from a new pallet may not match what’s sitting in your yard after years of Santa Clarita sun. We always recommend bringing a sample or letting us inspect the existing run in person. For aftermarket equivalents, Techno-Bloc and Techo-Bloc knockoffs exist, but we don’t install them. The color consistency and dimensional tolerance aren’t the same, and a $40 difference in material isn’t worth a visible seam in your kitchen floor. Sawyer Remodel Santa Clarita is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Unilock.

Signs Your Unilock Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Sunken or tilted pavers around the kitchen island. This almost always means the base material has eroded or wasn’t compacted properly. In Santa Clarita, it’s usually irrigation water from a nearby planter bed finding its way under the pavers.
- Joints that look washed out or empty. Joint sand doesn’t just disappear. When you see gaps, water is moving through the system. Left alone, the pavers start shifting and the problem spreads.
- Cracked edge restraints or a paver border that’s pulling away. The edge restraint is what holds the whole field together. Once it fails, the outside pavers lose lateral support and the pattern opens up.
- Chipped or spalled paver surfaces near the grill or cooktop. Heat cycling plus grease exposure accelerates surface wear. Unilock’s EnduraColor line resists this better than older lines, but even good pavers wear faster around high-heat zones.
- A wall unit or bar counter face that’s leaning or separating. This usually points to missing or failed geogrid reinforcement behind the wall, or a drainage problem behind the kitchen island. It’s the slowest-moving problem here, but also the most expensive to ignore.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed Unilock kitchen remodeling in Santa Clarita runs $14,000 – $45,000. The spread comes down to square footage, whether we’re tearing out and regrading the existing base, and which Unilock line you choose. A smaller kitchen surround with basic Brussels Block and a straightforward base is on the low end. A larger space with EnduraColor pavers, an Estate Wall island face, and drainage correction lands higher.

What’s included: tear-out of the failed section or full area, base material haul-off, new compacted base (we use proper road base, not sand), Unilock material, joint sand, edge restraints, labor, and cleanup. Every job gets the written price before any work starts, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise backs the install. If a paver settles in the first year, we come back and fix it. No argument, no invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
If a single paver has popped out and the base underneath is still solid, you can pull it, clean the edges, and reset it in a sand bed. That’s about where the safe DIY line ends. Once you’re dealing with a sunken section, a leaning wall unit, or edge restraint failure, you need the base rebuilt, and that’s not a weekend project. A failed base means digging out the section, checking for the water source that caused it, recompacting in lifts, and then resetting the pavers with the right joint sand. Get any of that wrong and you’ll be redoing it in a year. If you’re in Valencia, Stevenson Ranch, or up near Castaic and want us to take a look, call (661) 592-1977. Estimates are free.
FAQs

A properly installed Unilock kitchen with a correctly compacted base lasts 20 – 30 years in the Santa Clarita climate. What fails first is almost never the paver. It’s the base, the edge restraint, or the drainage around it. Fix those and the surface handles the rest.
Yes, if the pavers themselves aren’t cracked or spalled and the problem is settling, we can pull the affected section, rebuild the base, and reset the original pavers. If the surface is damaged or the color match from a patch would be obvious, a targeted replacement makes more sense. Call (661) 592-1977 and we’ll tell you which category you’re in.
A partial repair is typically one to two days. A full tear-out and rebuild runs one to two weeks, depending on the size and whether we’re correcting drainage or adding a new edge system. You’ll have a written timeline before we start.
We work directly with local Unilock suppliers in the Santa Clarita area and order the exact product for your install. That means no homeowner acting as a freight coordinator, and no mystery pallet arriving with the wrong color batch. We also stock Unilock-compatible edge restraints, geotextile fabric, and joint sand on our trucks. If you’re replacing adjacent hardscape, we work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for indoor kitchen surfaces as well, but the outdoor Unilock work is pure paver and wall unit work.
